Smart school of fish expose stupidity of a popular myth |
2006-11-22 |
Real anglers know they're not stupid, lol.![]() The popular notion that fish memories are measured in seconds has been exposed as a myth by research which showed that rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) remember experiences so well that they alter their behaviour in line with what they learn. |

#9 Mr. James, it was a sticker on a saucer full of illegal alliens, their mattress was poorly secured, floped off and hit the pasture next door. |

#8 Shipman, would that be a VSM with a bumper sticker ? I raised pheasants once and I can tell you some really opportunistic behavior among the dominant cock birds. We called the dominant male Joe. Joe would stalk us while we were feeding them and changing their water. One time, I captured Joe and hypnotized him like you do a chicken. I released him, and he began to make his way back to his throne area. The lesser terratorial birds began to attack him as he was sneaking along. When he reached his area, his lieutenants drove off the pursuers. As soon as he recovered, he backtracked through the hostile zone trying to act disinterested. Not a one of them got within ten feet of him. |

#5 This is an effort to justify PETAs anti-fishing efforts, because fish are just like people and have hopes and dreams and just want to be left alone to eat each other instead of having evil, cruel, unnatural humans eat them. Of course, PETA is now trying to figure a way to get all predators, including fish, to just eat tofu, which is better for them. |

#3 Anyone with an aquarium can tell you this. When the fish know there's someone outside the tank, they expect food. |
