Suspected rebels opened fire with automatic rifles on a state ministerâs car in the capital of Indian Kashmir on Wednesday but he escaped unhurt, police said. Three body guards of Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Sayed Bashir were wounded. Other security personnel in the area engaged the gunmen in a firefight. âThe minister escaped and we are cordoning the area to search for the militants,â a senior police officer told Reuters. Witnesses said Bashirâs car was hit by bullets.
