The suspects - all Algerian or French-Algerian - were sentenced to terms of up to nine years. The plot was discovered just days before it was allegedly due to be carried out on New Year's Eve. One of the convicted men is said to have been an associate of al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.
