2026-10-26 --Tech & Moderator Notes

We are seeing signs of attacks on Rantburg, coming from Chinese, African and Latin American clients.

The attacks were very strong, albeit not as strong as before, and they didn't last very long.

However we now have a means, a system as it were, for detecting the directions of the attacks and stopping them. Once the means in this latest case were implemented, the attacks stopped.

With the upcoming festivities in Iran and the midterm elections, these attacks can easily be interpreted as a prelude, a probe for what may be coming.

So brace for impact.

7 No Russia Russia, Russia?

Before I retired I would check my web server logs every day and the Russians were second only to the Chinese in probes for vulnerabilities. I found it interesting that the Ukrainians were third. I kinda think the Russians and Ukrainians were looking for credit card numbers and Social Security numbers because they were mere criminals looking for something they could use to steal money. The Chinese had a full division of the PLA devoted to hacking in the search for anything they could use to undermine our country.

8 Maybe for credit card numbers or IP addresses but this site has a low number of views. Yesterday’s total was less than 100. In terms of political influence, those days are behind us.

10 After starting to use DUCKDUCKGO a few years ago, I would not be able to access this site because of security concerns. I am happy to be able to reaccess this site.
