America Cut Off USAID, and Elections in Latin America Look Very Different Now

[Townhall] In Brazil, "far-right" Senator Flavio Bolsonaro -- son of the former Brazilian leader Jair Bolsonaro — led yesterday's general election with 47 percent of the vote, ahead of current Workers' Party leader and incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is seeking his fourth non-consecutive term. The election will go to a runoff on October 25.

But we can't help but notice that following the defunding of USAID, elections in Latin America have a decidedly different outcome. The "far-right" is now winning elections. In fact, it's won all eight elections since USAID went away.

Roderick Watson USAID Contracting Officer
Pleaded Guilty to bribery of a public official.
15 years in federal prison

Walter Barnes Owner/President of PM Consulting Group LLC
Pleaded Guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery and securities fraud.
5 years maximum sentence

Ruth Chisina Mufute Former Project Director at a non-profit
Arrested charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.
5 years maximum sentence

A handful of Executives from Apprio and Vistant
All pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery and securities fraud.
Many just got barred from doing any Government contracted work for 5 to 10 years.

NOTE: This scam started in 2013 (Obama admin)

Now the next 3 questions.
Will they serve their full sentences?
Do they have $$ Millions stashed, or jobs wait on release?
Will any of the abused $$$Million in funds be recovered?

The anti socialist trend preceded the USAID cut off by several years.

Chavez in Venezuelan had used oil revenue to subsidize a number of Socialist orgs but by 2017, Chavez began to run out of money on this. By 2020, this program essentially stopped completely.
