JNIM claims to have taken control, on Monday, August 31, 2026, at midday, of a position held by the Dozo Dan Na Ambassagou militia in the village of Ningari, one of the main localities in the Dogon country, in the Mopti region.

This attack comes as the leader of Dan Na Ambassagou calls on his fighters to resist JNIM and urges villages not to sign agreements with the group, despite the weakening of the militias in the face of its assaults.

This week, several Dozo Dan Na Ambassagou militias affiliated with the Malian army have laid down their arms in several localities in Macina and Dogon country in favor of JNIM.
