Al-Shabab fighters launched overnight attacks and ambushes against AUSSOM positions in Qoryooley and Golweyn, under Buulo Mareer district in Lower Shabelle. Local reports said heavy gunfire was heard around both areas as fighting broke out near the African Union bases. The attacks come amid continued Al-Shabab pressure on military positions across Lower Shabelle, one of the group’s most active operational areas.
