Just patrolling their buffer zone to keep anyone from getting bright ideas. [Rudaw] The Israeli army set up a temporary checkpoint near one of Syria's southern villages and searched passersby, Syria's state media reported on Saturday.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said a convoy of Israeli army vehicles, consisting of three military vehicles, advanced into the outskirts of al-Samadaniya village in the southern province of Quneitra.
The Israeli army "set up a temporary checkpoint at the Eastern al-Samadaniya intersection, where it proceeded to search passersby, before withdrawing from the area," SANA reported.
The outlet also said an Israeli military convoy of more than 15 vehicles had advanced into another village in the same area and searched a house and a fodder warehouse before withdrawing.
 The Israeli army has carried out similar operations in the area numerous times. Tel Aviv rarely comments on such activities.
Two shepherds were detained by Israeli forces in the area last week, SANA reported on Monday.

Damascus has repeatedly condemned Israeli military activity inside Syrian territory, calling it a violation of illusory sovereignty and of the 1974 disengagement agreement that established a UN-monitored buffer zone following the Arab-Israeli war.
From my notes: Israeli forces have established at least seven heavily fortified bases in Daraa and Quneitra, surrounded by massive earth berms and advanced sensor arrays.
It has also established an asphalt route in the Quneitra countryside to facilitate military mobilization and logistical support.
To secure the corridor, the Israeli military has demolished dozens of civilian structures, flattened agricultural farms, and utilized targeted herbicide spraying to create a barren perimeter with zero visual blind spots, based on a report published by ACLED on Thursday.
Israeli officials have stated that they seek to stay in these buffer sectors indefinitely to ensure the total demilitarization of the southern frontier and to mitigate any creeping security threats, asserting the country's right to act "independently" to block hostile regional actors, including the remnants of the former Syrian regime, Iranian proxy networks, and Sunni bad boy groups.
