When police raided the suspects' property, they recovered the victims' phones, jewelry, laptops, camping equipment, and vehicle. Officers also discovered an ISIS flag and extremist material. Court evidence included messages referring to the victims as "kuffar" (infidels) and instructing that their bodies should never be found.
Sayefundeen Del Vecchio, Bibi Patel and Mussa Jackson were convicted of double murder, kidnapping, robbery and theft after an eight-year investigation.
