🚨🇺🇸 BREAKING: The U.S. Army’s hypersonic “Dark Eagle” weapon is designed to strike targets over 1,700 miles away at speeds above Mach 5, according to a report submitted to Congress.

The system, officially called the Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW), launches a missile that deploys a maneuverable hypersonic glide body, making it extremely difficult for enemy defenses to detect or intercept.
It is intended to hit high-value and time-sensitive targets in heavily defended areas, giving the U.S. a rapid long-range conventional strike capability.

The missile booster is being developed by Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, while the hypersonic glide body is produced by Dynetics (a subsidiary of Leidos).
