New TSA policy to charge passengers nearly $50 if they don't have acceptable ID

Apparently the Federal Government issued 'Carry' ID with photo is not sufficient.

I paid extra the last time I renewed my Ohio driver’s license to make it a Real ID. I had to bring in my birth and marriage certificates to support being an American citizen and the name change to “Wife”, but that’s all it took. For my mother we had to dig up her German birth certificate, naturalization certificate, both marriage certificates and her first husband’s death certificate to support all the name changes. At one point the State Department put a hold on the thing, but in the end it all worked out.

[FoxNews] The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will begin charging passengers $45 if they show up at airport checkpoints without an acceptable form of identification, such as a passport or Real ID.

The policy will be implemented starting Feb. 1, 2026, following a proposed rule published in the Federal Register that noted a previous amount of $18.

After careful review, it was determined that the expenses for the new technology and operational costs were higher than originally projected, leading to an increase in the final fee, according to senior TSA officials.

Travelers who do not have an acceptable form of identification will be able to go online to the TSA website to complete identification steps and pay the $45 fee.

The passenger then receives an email confirmation to present to the TSA officer prior to the checkpoint. # id) ?>

7 If I may, for your professional consideration and feedback:

I've been run for free estimates for square footage only to be used as free shit thrown against the window, no intention of the client to conform, hoping to get the job, and no reclaim if customer goes otherwise. Hell, done it myself, get an estimate for auto damage by pros not hacks.

Anyways, skin in the game keeps the pushers out, and if anything take a bit out of the funders. I had to do it, why not they?
