Report: Israel-Syria talks at dead end, with Jerusalem only willing to withdraw troops for full peace deal

[IsraelTimes] Talks between Israel and Syria for a landmark security deal are currently at a dead end, the Kan public broadcaster reports, citing unnamed Israeli sources.

The sticking point is Syria’s demand that the IDF pull out of areas it seized inside Syrian territory following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime last year.

The report says Jerusalem is refusing to take such a step in exchange for less than a full peace deal with Damascus, which currently is not under discussion. # id) ?>
