I'm Sorry, But HOW MANY Illegals Get Food Stamps?

[PJMedia] It's astounding, the things we learn when the money runs out and governments actually have to start prioritizing for a change. As the Schumer Shutdown drags through Week Five with no end in sight, the country's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — aka "food stamps" — ran out of money on Saturday. And given who was taking, it's a miracle that there was any money left at all.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins reported yesterday that earlier this year, "we told every state to send us their SNAP data so we could make sure illegal immigrants aren’t getting benefits meant for American families. 29 states stepped up. 21 blue states refused — and two SUED US FOR ASKING!"

That's because we're spending billions on benefits to illegal aliens.

My guess is that the Center for Immigration Studies — which bills itself as "low-immigrant" yet "pro-immigration" — was being a bit ironic with this headline: Illegal Immigrants To Be Hit Hard As SNAP and WIC Benefits Expire.

The organization's 2023 analysis of government data showed that "households headed by illegal immigrants make extensive use of the welfare system, particularly food assistance programs." CIS estimated that 59% of households headed up by an illegal are on one or more welfare programs, whether it's cash, food assistance, Medicaid, or housing.

Read that again. We're giving cash, food, healthcare, and housing to people who aren't even supposed to be here.

Millions of them, in fact. Even though I could have sworn that Democrats insisted up and down that sort of thing never happened. No wonder 21 blue states didn't want Rollins looking at their books.

4 Back when the first issue of MREs were distributed, there was an offer for a McIlhenny tabasco camo web carriers put out by the company. It fit nicely on the web belt and came with a 'cook book' of recipes in combining various ingredients across the MRE lines. IIRC, the dehydrated peaches, with powder creamer and a crumbled cracker made a OK field expedient cobbler.

6 Actually, I've seen an explanation - for MRE quality - in one of L. E. Modesitt's books. To wit, if MRE were quality, they'd be stolen and sold on black market.

8 #6 while in Korea, when we went out to the 'field' we were shadowed by a sutler, "Mamason", who provided snacks and food. The Katusas, Korean augmentees to the US Army, would trade their MREs for Korean food. She would then brake them down to recover the contents. Things like the sugar and coffee were highly taxed at the time.

11 Until you get Ham and Lima Beans or Beef Stew with "frosting" several times in a row, you have no idea about crappy. Ham and MF'ers had zero trade value except for the Pound Cake Roll.

The congealed fat that provided the "frosting" on the beef stew could be handled if you had a 1/4 ton engine running and you could open the can partially and put it on the exhaust manifold or engine block for about two minutes.

12 Yeah - good ol Gen 1 MREs...Beans n Baby D#cks, Beef Screw, Pork Patties, Chicken a la King (yuck). Gens 2 n 3 improved especially w/the heater. Of course the Marines wasted no time and turned the heaters into mini-WMDs.
