No. Not my social system anyway. Even before the fire, I did not envy anyone who lives in Los Angeles. They have some nice neighborhoods but most of the neighborhoods are not nice at all. Even the nice ones are subject to horrendous traffic jams, air pollution, crime, hobos sleeping on the sidewalks, sky high taxes and sky high prices for everything. They have people paying more for property taxes than I ever paid for my mortgage although I suppose if you're making enough money that doesn't matter.

I do realize that the fire was inevitable because Newsom and Bass were negligent in their duty to place public safety above their own personal ambitions. Dead brush was not cleared, fire fighting services were woefully understaffed and underfunded and fire hydrants ran dry. They can blame global warming/climate change all they want but the fire and it's devastating impact was their fault. Their preparation for this fire was so inadequate that you might even suspect that they wanted it.

Now the suspicion must be that they are taking huge bribes from their friends with the deep pockets, including the CCP, who can afford to wait for building permits or else bribe the officials who grant the permits. It's pretty clear that the fix is in.
