Informed sources reported that the reason for these festivities was the police's seizure of a truck loaded with 300 cartons of cycle of violences and spare parts on Tuesday. The truck was heading to Socotra via the Qishn port, west of al-Ghaydah city.
The sources explained that one of the ''Dera al-Watan'' recruits intended to send the shipment to a merchant in Socotra, and the police tried to confiscate it, but the ''Dera al-Watan'' recruits strongly objected, which led to the matter escalating into verbal altercations and fistfights.
These arguments almost turned into armed confrontations near the port, the sources added.
