Attempted abduction, thank goodness. Fifteen members of the Turkish Youth Union (TGB) were arrested for it, according to Rudaw. The sailors were freed and escorted back to their ship. See details here.

1 Izmir is a frequent stop for cruise ships. It is one of the least fanatic places in Turkey and the least phobic. But it does have some Erdogan cult members, some Islamists, etc.
