SDF arrests 2 men accused of being Turkish agents

[NPASyria] On Thursday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced capturing two young men on espionage charges in the districts of Amuda and Darbasiyah in the western countryside of Qamishli, northeast Syria.

The SDF Media Center said in a statement that the SDF’s special units arrested two agents recruited by the ~~Ottoman~~ Turkish intelligence to identify locations of military centers and leaders, in addition to institutions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

It added that the arrestees are Elias Muhammad al-Rahil, born in Darbasiyah in 1997, and Hamid Khalil al-Ahmad, born in Kharazeh, Amuda, in 1998. They received cash in exchange for the information.

After interrogating them, the statement added, they admitted their involvement in handing information and coordinates of SDF sites in Tel Tamr, Zirgan, Amuda, and Darbasiyah.

They also admitted providing information about the movements of SDF leaders, including Rezan Gallo, co-chair of the Martyrs’ Families Foundation, a civil institution which cares for the families of those killed of SDF in the ~~Ottoman~~ Turkish attacks or in the fight against the Islamic State

The SDF noted that after concluding the investigations, both were handed over to judicial institutions.
