Somalia army base comes under Car bomb and gun attack

launched an assault involving boom-mobiles on a main military base in Southern Somalia on Saturday morning.
The attack near Afmadow, a border town started with two boom-mobile explosions followed by direct attack from armed snuffies who stormed the base, according to the eyewitnesses.
Confirming the incident, an official said the base camp was housing Somali army and Jubaland regional soldiers at the time of the raid by al-Shabaab.
The troops fended off the terrorist attack and killed the al-Shabaab button men, said the official who spoke to Radio Shabelle by phone on condition of anonymity.
The details of the casualties remain murky as the situation still in confusion with no comments from local authorities on the attack.
The attackers came by car and swept into the outpost after the blasts at the entrance.
The reports suggest that al-Shabaab carried out the attack to distrupt an impending military operation against it in Afmadow on Somalia’s border with Kenya.
The group faced defeat in the central regions after being elected from main strongholds, including Harardhere within Galmudug
