- Incident occurred after the class had finished reading a story before art lesson
- Children fled to another classroom for safety, where they remained in lockdown
- Zwerner, 25, had life-threatening injuries but her condition is improving
- Classes have been canceled for the 550 students at the school until Wednesday
- Under Virginia law guns need to be secured from children under the age of 14
