hideouts in the Lower Shabelle region during an operation involving NISA, the country’s spy agency.

The operation was jointly conducted by NISA and the elite forces from Haram’ad brigade and it targeted El-mara’adde, Garas Gawan, and Galka Salimo near Marka port city.

The secret bases of the al-Shabaab in the areas were all destroyed in the raid, said an official with the local regional administration, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Al-Shabaab is facing a military offensive that saw the liberation of dozens of villages in the Hiran, Middle Shabelle, and Galgadud regions.
