Retired Navy officer admits sending Malaysian defense contractor classified ship schedules for the Seventh Fleet in exchange for more than $45,000 in bribes and stays at luxury hotels

The 'Fat Leonard' scandal is one of the largest corruption cases in Navy history

Leonard Francis, 57, a Malaysian defense contractor, bribed hundreds of people to obtain confidential information and boost his Singapore-based business

Francis was arrested in 2013, pleaded guilty in 2015, and his long-delayed sentencing is now scheduled for September 24

Federal criminal charges have been filed against 34 Navy officials, defense contractors, and the Glenn Defense Marine Asia corporation

So far, 26 of those have pleaded guilty and many have been sentenced to several years in prison

On Tuesday one of nine defendants in what was to be the first criminal trial switched his not guilty plea and admitted the charges

Chief Warrant Officer Robert Gorsuch, 54, confessed to accepting more than $45,000 in bribes from Francis including lavish parties and hotel stays

Gorsuch will be sentenced in November for his role in the scam

1 The higher-ups do it, why can't the little guys do it too? I'm sure they're all very confused.

You can tell that they're little guys by the fact that prison sentences are being handed out.

Likely the Malaysian Defense Contractor was reselling the data to CCP & Russia. Maybe even slipping it to an area Islamic extremest group.
