New York City police charged Aaron Garcia, 37, of Yonkers with assault and attempted murder for a Sunday evening hatchet attack

Surveillance video obtained by DailyMail.com shows Queens resident Miguel Solorzana, 50, standing at an ATM when the assailant sneaks up behind him

He suffered three slash wounds to his head, police said, and another slash wound to his right leg

He was transported to Bellevue Hospital where he underwent two surgeries and remains in stable condition

Police said Garcia remained in custody undergoing psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue as of Wednesday afternoon

A close relative, who asked not to be named, said Garcia had previously served in the Army, and was not the same after his return from deployment to Iraq

He was arrested in Chelsea on Tuesday evening, and is also wanted by the Yonkers Police Department
