News breaking: A reliable source says that tonight, in a telephone conversation with Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the US Secretary of State & Secretary of Defense asked him to resign in order to allow a ceasefire & the formation of a transitional government. #Afghanistan @indypersian

#5 Unconfirmed reports have the Taliban 30 miles outside of Kabul while US embassy staff frantically shred documents and destroy computers.

Forget Ghani. This is a monumental clusterfuck that could end up combining the worst aspects of Tehran in 1979 and Saigon in 1975.

Make sure that helipad on top the embassy is ready and get the helicopters going right now.
