Macho men more likely to suffer health, social issues in old age
[NYPOST] Toxic masculinity may literally be hazardous to men’s health.

While movies may make the macho lifestyle seem alluring, a new study has found that hypermasculine males could suffer from a host of health and social issues as they age.

"Our study shows how toxic masculinity
...the liberal concept (the science is settled!) that men are knuckle dragging bastards who spend all their time watching football, drinking beer, burping, farting, and thumping their women. This doesn't apply if the men are girls transitioning to boys, or boys transitioning to girls, or either transitioning to sheep...
 also has detrimental consequences for the men who subscribe to these ideals," says Michigan State University sociologist Stef Shuster in a statement. The study was published in the journal Sex Roles.

Shuster defines "toxic masculinity" as a belief in men being "autonomous and not showing a lot of emotion."

To study the correlation, the team analyzed nearly 5,500 older men and women and tried to determine the level at which each male participant subscribed to traditionally masculine ideals. They found that the most macho individuals suffered from loneliness, financial problems and even poor health as a result of their isolationist tendencies.

"Having people with whom we can talk about personal matters is a form of social support," says Shuster, whose study found that men were less likely than women to confide in others.

Shuster adds, "If people only have one person that they can share information with, or sometimes even no people, they don’t really have an opportunity to reflect and share."

This refusal to seek outside help can cause toxic masculinity adherents to become siphoned out of society as they age, according to Shuster. Indeed, male boomers ‐ those born between 1940 and the mid-1960s ‐ are increasingly struggling to maintain and forge friendships as they retire, which is, in turn, exacerbated by relocating homes or their partner dying.

Physical sports will lead to 'a host of health and social issues' in advanced age. Exercise and use of muscles may result in early death.

If you 'subscribe to the ideals' of facing hard work, responsibility and a little danger with courage and a smile, rather than flock to you people will desert you.

Not whining about everything, not consulting every opinionated acquaintance over every little event in your life will make you a nervous old wreck.

Those who seek 'outside help', chiefly psychiatrists and other 'experts', rather than introspect and evaluate themselves in solitude, are healthier for it.

Your spouse dying is almost the same level of mental stress as moving house. In fact according to the expert, for all your 'stoic posturing' you're no better'n a dang piddly poodle ! So start acting like it and make the expert some money goddamnit !

10 Well, yeah, statistically there are a lot of old women out there than there are old men. A hundred years ago it wasn't the same. Seems the patriarchal medical establishment spent a lot of time working on that to invert the mortality curve. Started about the same time women got the vote. Just saying. Something about without social security, medicare, et al, you needed a lot of kids living to adulthood to provide 'honoring thy father and mother' in their elder age. That meant a lot of births, to also cover loses in childhood mortality of the time. A lot of wear and tear on the body doing that.

Sorry soy buy, but this cat's experiencing the exact opposite at age 55. Just yesterday I pulled in not one, but two new corporate clients. These people were all great and we came together not only on a professional level but because we personally like each other. It's therefore very likely I now have two more clients who will be clients for a long, long time. Professionally it may have been my best day ever, but this simpering twit asserts otherwise, with zero evidence. 'Struggling', my ass - it's more like thriving.

Also, one more thing - for all the nuance the left claims to understand, anyone else notice there's only one type of masculinity with these clowns, and that's naturally the bad kind? Not terribly clever, guys (who will never be toxic)!

Raj, I think you are Gen X, so of course you can be as hypermasculine as you like, without repercussions. It’s only male Boomers who are punished for it, according to the good professor, who carefully limited his study to older men and women lest he be forced to draw conclusions he didn’t like.
