[Regnum] The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that four tankers struck mines south of the Strait of Hormuz, and two more vessels were detained. This was reported by the IRNA news agency, citing an IRGC statement.
"Four oil tankers attempting to pass through the restricted area in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz were blown up by naval mines and continue to burn... A modular reconnaissance and attack drone was hit and shot down over the Strait of Hormuz. Two vessels have been detained," the IRGC statement read.
Previously, two oil tankers were also blown up by naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The vessels attempted to navigate the strait after disabling their navigation and identification systems.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran has agreed to reduce the timeframe for its plan to open the Strait of Hormuz from five to two days.
