The appeals and political interference help Meta will get in this case. Likely means it won't be finally bartered down and resolved for 5 to 12 more years.

2 I am seeing a lucrative and sustainable business model here:
Blue states sue Meta over violations of user's illusiory privacy, and get a pay day.
Meta pays 10% and gets a write-off. Wash, rinse and repeat.

The Blue states will need to coordinate on timing and take turns so they don't kill the goose. Informally, of course.
