1 UKR is ground zero for replacement theory.

Watch how UKR changes post war. When you see it, I hope you believe it. UKR is the blueprint.

2 The United States is now siding with a bloody aggressor who invaded Ukraine, aided by North Korean troops and weapons from Iran (a country the U.S. is in war with, and Iran is helped by Russia in this war).

It sounds like a particularily absurd episode of "Sliders", but here we are.

Russia has made it very clear what it wants to do with Ukraine. There is no "deal" to be made that doesn't lead to the destruction of Ukraine, with most Ukrainians fleeing the country and being replaced by Russians.

If you support this I have no more to say.

3 being replaced by Russians.

I understand the theory, European Conservative, but where will Russia find the excess population with which to replace anybody? Vast swathes of their own country have become empty because the population had been aging and shrinking for decades — in the southeast Chinese settlers have been quietly moving into empty villages for nearly as long, but China has population shrinkage problems of its own.

Separately, not rhetoric but a real question: we’ve been reading about War Deptartment inventory replacement problems such that there are concerns about supplying the next round against Iran. Under the circumstances, can we honestly commit to resupply Ukraine’s needs for their war as well, or is it fairer to push them to face the reality that for the next while they’re going to have to rely on whatever Europe and England can come up with?

4 @2 "If you support this I have no more to say."

Is that a promise?

Why is the EU importing so much from Russia?
#1 in LNG, #1 in pipeline gas and #4 in crude oil.

I could care less what some European thinks.

5 I could care less what some European thinks.

I do care. Because Israel is as much their target as Russia (or, on longer time span, USA). EU is the Rome of Globalism.

7 #2 The United States is now siding with a bloody aggressor who invaded Ukraine

That is one way of looking at it. Another is that the EU/NATO actively worked to push Russia into a "Do we fight them now or fight them later?" choice.

Preposterous? Remember that interview Merkel gave where she stated that there was no intention of complying with the Minsk agreements and that the only purpose was to gain time to build up Ukraine. In that light, the current stated strategy of trying to force the Russians to negotiate via strategic bombing is unlikely to work.

Russia has made it very clear what it wants to do with Ukraine.

Indeed they have. End of the civil war in the Donbass, reconnection of Crimea, a de-militarized Ukraine. All things that could have been negotiated before the festivities jumped off. The Rus have explicitly stated they have no interest or intention of taking Ukraine. Given the lack of trust fallout from the Minsk agreements, a neutral buffer zone is no longer a consideration, so the Russians will want some sort of defendable border, like the Dniepr river.

tl;dr: From this side of the Atlantic, it appears the EU/NATO provoked a war to damage a traditional enemy using Ukraine as the tool.

Prediction: the war will end when the Euros get tired of poking the bear or the Russians control eastern Ukraine along the Dniepr.

8 …or both populations fall too low to field armies, SteveS.

That’s my concern.
