2 ...The rumor (stressing rumor) at this point is that Jim had a nervous breakdown and is safely under a doctor's care...but won't be able to finish the race.

If true, I genuinely feel bad for him and his families - I've seen some spectacular breakdowns at extremely close range, and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

On the other hand, if there's some other explanation for this, he is in deep kimchi.
