1 I watched a number of games Sunday.
I counted 8 hits resulting in injuries.
I saw no penalties from the deliberate acts.

The one pictured was the classic 300 lb tackle with a late rolling leg lock [Kata-ashi-hishigi] of combat Judo.

Another, which could have been a simple two leg tackle, was instead a full speed shoulder pad impact to the side of the receiver's knee.

A leaping receiver was hit low in the legs while in the air. He pinwheeled 180 degrees and landed on his head for a buggy ride off the field.

Late hits on QBs after passing, 'piling on' downed runners and a set of what should have been facemask penalties were ignored by the referees.

Was this early season pruning of the offense or odds setting for later point spread sport betting?
