3 The Greek worldview was a logic machine decoupled from purpose or law, where morality was endlessly redefined to match the latest philosophical fashion, and fickle gods needed to be propitiated lest they take out their pique on the nearest convenient target. The Jewish view was of a morality-centered, purposeful, directional history where even the limitless God is limited within the universe by His laws. Both sought to decode the universe through logic.

Naturally they despised one another, long before early Christianity came along, and in the East was frozen by the Moslem conquest..
