The first civil war wasn't entirely about slaves either. The emancipation proclamation applied to states in rebellion, NOT the Northern States. Yes, even then, "it was all about the money."

5 We are in the middle of a civil war. We just don’t recognize it because there are no muskets. Right now we have a policy that 80% of Americans approve of being scuttled by the leaders of the party who proposed it as they block nominations from a president of the same party. We already had a coup and jailed non-violent protesters that our government entrapped without trial for years.

The memo tells Republicans not to underestimate Graham Platner, arguing that despite the controversies, he remains a credible threat to Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and could help Democrats flip the seat.

The memo calls Maine the “linchpin” in the Senate fight, with Democrats fully "consolidating" behind Platner despite controversies.
