1 Unsurprising that the IRGC would end up on top. Even without the recently dead Ayatollah, they have infuence, guns, and what one might call strong feelings about who runs the country.

President Pez publicly bailing is an interesting twist, though. I would expect him to stay on to add a faint whisp of legitimacy to the comming mess. Maybe he decided to was time to leave and we'll see him next in another country. I bet if he asked nice, our Secretary of War could find him a ride.

Trump made a comment the other day about the fact that the Iranian Army was mostly untouched in the previous festivities and how that might change. Off-hand remark or a signal that "It's your last chance, boys!"?

2 It’s always a signal, SteveS. Just like he is holding back his dear friend Bibi while negotiations are ongoing, such as they are, with the unspoken threat that if they fail Bibi will be set free to do as he wills.
