1 The Taliban will fall if the Iranian Mullahs fall. Not sure what the mechanism will be. Cutting our funding of them will help.

2 Lots of governments and NGO have been donating to ongoing charitable projects in Afghanistan, each one no doubt worthy when examined on its own, all subject to rake-offs and cumshaw to the Taliban that gives the government a significant portion of the proceeds, stuff, jobs, and help, to the tune of millions or billions of dollars — but the donors and organizations comfort themselves that needy Afghans are getting at least some help.

3 AFG is at least 1000 yrs behind us. Doubt there's any catching up in our lifetimes. They must be somewhere near the top of the list of incompatible cultures.
