2 Wrote a Scifi story back around 2005 called,

"Good to The Last Drop"

It has sections of the Earth collapsing due all the oil that been pumped out. Creating 100's of Sq Miles of Void or less supported caverns where water was pumped back in to make the oil float up.

The Sand Lands
The Alaska, Gulf and West Coasts and etc...

The story used....

A cubic mile hold's roughly about 1,101,117,147,429 gallons of oil.

Recent global estimates put daily oil consumption at around 42 Billion gallons per day.

Using these numbers for quick math.
Means we are creating a .038 cubic Mile void/compromised each day.
.038 x 365 = 13.92 cubic mile void/compromised per year

Now say just say the last 20 years = 278.44 Cubic mile void.

Obviously certain areas will have bigger void or compromised areas.

Now say by the year 2036 something like 417.66++ cubic miles.

4 I've read a bunch of Velina Tchakarova's stuff (TLDR: "We're doomed.") She seems to be a very bright lady, but she's making dire predictions about topics she has at best a superficial knowledge of, and underestimates the ability of capable people to adjust to changes. I'd rather hear from Billy Bob Thornton's character in "Landman".
