Personal info.
I worked in several high schools as a sub (child support), teaching biology, chemistry, and math. None of teaching college grads I've knew their subject worth sh*t. Lots of psychology babble - zilch understanding of the subject.

Just think, given the current Public School NEA controlled educational system and its failure to educate students to anything near basic 7th grade level skills.

Those that Home Schooled, sent their kids to Christian church ran schools and trade schools, not Liberal Arts colleges.

Will be looked on as the Builders, Scribes and Oracles of the future.

4 Make teacher unions illegal.

They are part of the problem, not part of the solution!

Require teachers to take basic competencies tests in their teaching subjects. Fancy teaching degrees not required nor desired!

6 #4 - teachers have a Constitutional right to free association and petition. They do not have a right to bargain with a sovereign government.

The solution is competition, vouchers and alternatives. Secondly, dissolve colleges of education at state run universities and colleges. Instead require bachelor's level proficiency in specific subject matter.

8 Mississippi and Louisiana achieved much better reading students by emphasizing phonics.

Somehow the 'whole word recognition' cult is still hanging on in some States even though many of the 'scholars' in 'whole word recognition' teaching recognize the problem with their theory.

Of course it's not just that, there are more issues, but phonics is a big winner and should never have been removed from K-7 teaching.
