1 Issa is my congresscritter, better than most. Desmond is an acceptable replacement

2 Issa used to represent the 49th district, on the coast, and I'm told he still lives on the coast, could be wrong about that. This is his second retirement. After the first retirement he moved to the 48th District which is inland where folks tend to be more conservative (until Newsom's redistricting anyway). But so many apartment and condominium buildings have been built on the coast that the Democrats, Mike Levin in particular, were able to win it after Issa retired the first time. Wish he hadn't done that.

3 I have watched Issa since Fast and Furious. He is smart, but too close to Paul Ryan for me. I imagine the establishment clan has organized a suitable replacement. Issa would vote with Trump 80% of the time and then let loose with a stinker as if he was susceptible to special interest. It has never made sense to me as he is one of the legitimately richest people in Congress.
