2 I don't know how much of an 'irony' it is to ask an entity, no matter what you might think of them, that has a LOT of experience combating Iranian and Russian drones for alternative methods to combat them.

I am surprised that our military apparently hasn't been paying attention to the possibility that they might be under the same threats someday.

3 ^ The military or the politicians? Probably both, drones aren't 'sexy' so research and funding go to things like the F-35, B-21 and other flashier and more expensive priorities, which bring more money to the congress creatures district or state. The other branches aren't much better, boring things like support and logistical items always comes far behind planes and tanks and ships.

Also, inter-service politics has almost certainly contributed. The Air Farce really doesn't want the Army to have anything fixed wing that carries weapons. There is little money, I mean pork, for inexpensive weapons that work.
