1 At this point, I pretty much don't trust Boeing at all.
The accountants that got control don't seem to much care about the passengers.

Bean Counters vs Engineers - it is an eternal conflict. Boeing is what happens when the bean counters win. SpaceX (or Old Boeing) is what you get when the engineers are driving.

3 American Airlines Flight 191 was a regularly scheduled flight from O'Hare to LAX. On the afternoon of May 25, 1979, the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 operating this flight was taking off from runway 32R when its left engine detached from the wing, causing a loss of control. The aircraft crashed about 4,600 feet (1,400 m) from the end of runway 32R. All 271 occupants on board were killed on impact, along with two people on the ground.

The NTSB report found an interrupted maintenance shortcut damaged the engine mount. The plane was designed to have an engine come off (yes!) and allow the plane to land safely. The overstressed engine mount failure resulted in hydraulic and electrical damage and a left-wing stall from which the pilots could not recover.
