1 Prove it, test by launching a dummy ICBM from Guam or Hawaii toward a major US city and then destroy it incoming! Unlike China, don’t masquerade it as an asteroid, and don’t wait till it’s over water to softly down it, like Biden did!

Wonder how close that will match the old locations of the Nike air defense sites.

Sadly, I think all but a handful of the NIKE sites are long redeveloped - the ones in my hometown of Cleveland are now parks, schools, and Federal office buildings.

You know what might be an interesting thing to look into, though: the old Coast Defense fortresses. Mostly still Federal property (albeit Dept. of the Interior), outside or near to all the major coastal cities and able to overlap coverage.
