2 To be fair, the current Syrian conquerors had nothing to do with the Assad family venture into nuclear bomb making, and had not been allowed anywhere near it. The Assad joint project with North Korea and the Mad Mullahs ran into Israeli objections a decade after Saddam Hussein had tried the same thing on his own with the same result — the remnants of which were buried under the Iraqi head scientist’s personal rose garden, as I recall, to await a golden era when those Jewish nosy parkers were no longer able to interfere. Sadly, President George W. Bush interfered first, so it is no longer even a dream in Iraq.
