#5 My sister lives in Sagaponeck, NY, just west of East Hampton. She and her husband are conservatives in a sea of liberals. For many years she ran a plant nursery where she hired a lot of Mexicans. IIRC, she had to verify that they were eligible to work in the US, but she was not allowed to question their documents.

Supposedly, the illegals are doing the jobs that Americans won't do. Remember George W. Bush saying that? Pissed me off when he did. I think it's more accurate to say they're doing the jobs for which Americans need not apply. Maybe you can blame America's minimum wage laws which make it illegal for American workers to compete with foreigners.
