1 It is easily done to write a check to the IRS marked gift or to pay down the national debt for as much over one’s required taxes as one would like — just like making extra payments on the mortgage to pay that down more quickly. I don’t understand why these people don’t lead by example and start a new trend among the same people who give so much to NGOs that support their political and social goals.

2 Come to think of it, wouldn’t it be fun if President Trump and his appointees did so with great fanfare each April 15th of the rest of his term — maybe going down to IRS headquarters together have it recorded in a Donors Book to be displayed thereafter in the foyer — then let the fakers explain why they are not joining in.
