The Sun, even though 93 million miles away, is the nearest continuous thermonuclear reaction in the neighbor and it kills thousands every year. No one runs around like Chicken Little because of that.

2 In the mid 90’s, I worked in a coal fired power plant on the Ohio River by Cincinnati. There was a string of them. Some of them were new. I think they are all gone.

3 Something that always amused me about nuclear power is that it takes the strongest known force in the universe, the strong nuclear force that binds protons and neutrons, and uses it to boil water. Once you got past the whole "splitting the atom" thingie, you could explain it all to James Watt in 5 minutes.
