It was certainly a factor. In the opinion of this amateur historian, the main reasons the Allies won the war were technology in the form of radar and cryptography, American industrial production, and Russian bodies on the Eastern front.

This is not in order of importance and ignores the personal sacrifice of Lord knows how many. We are indebted to all of them, so let's try not to mess things up.
