[Regnum] Law enforcement officials have arrested Thomas Markle Sr., father of the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, in the US state of Floridaon suspicion of possessing child pornography. This was reported on November 6 by the New York Post (NYP), citing sources.
According to journalists, the 82-year-old man was detained in a nursing home where he was undergoing rehabilitation following a leg amputation in December 2025.
In late October, The Sun reported that Thomas Markle Sr. was under investigation for possessing child pornography at his home in the Philippines. Hundreds of pornographic images were found there.
According to the publication, Markle's son contacted American law enforcement, who were then preparing to launch their own investigation. Upon learning of the incident, Meghan Markle stated that she was deeply shocked by what had happened. She also revealed that she had learned of her father's crimes back in 2018 and had subsequently cut off contact with him.
From the 1960s to 2011, Markle Sr. worked in Chicago and Hollywood as a lighting designer. His projects included the series "General Hospital" and "Married... with Children." The relationship between Markle and his daughter soured shortly before her wedding to Britain's Prince Harry in 2018. The father criticized his daughter and "her red-headed husband" and threatened to sue her.
