First Major Atmospheric River of Season to hit SW by Nov 1
|
| link goes to the NWS narrative discussion at Grand Junction. | [ForecastWeatherGov] The SW has had a lot of precip from late monsoon moisture augmented by remnants of tropical storms. Some important reservoirs have recently made good recoveries, e.g., Lake Navajo in Colo/NM is up 35' since the seasonal low in late Sept. Lake Powell in UT/AZ is up 14' similarly.
The Atmospheric River (from Pacific) will likely take them up again. There is, of course, the possibility of some flooding (some places along the San Juan River received significant damage in the previous monsoon-like event), but this is mostly very good news.
