9 Initial reports sound like the local law enforcement and emergency responders were prepared and quick to respond. Kudos seem appropriate, and the CCW guy was brave and determined, his kids were in the school I think, so he did what a Dad needed to do, kill the threat!

10 Oregon elementary school shooter and man who shot him identified

John J. Griffin, 16, has been identified as the gunman in Thursday's deadly school shooting at a Bend, Oregon, elementary school.

Kaylub Giamanco, 36, was identified as the good Samaritan who took down Griffin, his brother, Kyle Giamanco, told NBC News.

Kaylub Giamanco is a carpenter and the father of two girls who attend Silver Rail. According to Kyle Giamanco, his brother was driving home for his lunch break when he heard gunshots. He then spotted the gunman entering the school. Kyle Giamanco also said his brother has a concealed-weapon permit and told him that the shooter had gone into the special education room.

11 @4 Because deep down, they are cowards and children are far less likely to be able to take the gun away from them. The CCW holder is a hero and won't be charged. It remains to be seen if there were any warning signs that were missed or ignored.

13 Never mind. The NY Post hS a photo and reports he was taught in that very classroom after being homeschooled until age 10. I saw speculation elsewhere that has Aspergers/Autism, but I’ve not yet seen anything official there.

Also, his mother bought the pump action shotgun he used around the time of his birthday in August.
