He is the child of Moslem Egyptian immigrants, an epidemiologist who graduated from medical school on a Soros scholarship — but has no medical license — and a PhD in public health. He was the VP of his college Muslim Students Association, the youth branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in North America, then started his political career as a Bernie Bro, joined four national labour unions, pronounces Israel an evil rogue state, and refused to condemn Iran’s slain supreme leader. All in all, he epitomizes the new red-green DSA… and Mike Rogers debated for the first time tonight in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
In November, voters will decide who to send to Washington, D.C., to represent the Wolverine state. The two traded attacks on investments, whose funding their campaigns, and immigration policy.
El-Sayed called for price controls on gasoline, but also called to “hold oil and gas companies accountable.”
“Look, I definitely think that’s something we should consider,” El-Sayed said. "Look, we’re in an emergency. When you’re paying $5 gas and $8 diesel, that’s an emergency, and I think we have a responsibility right now to make sure we do everything we can to address it.”
The two talked about tariff policy, the Iran war, and grocery prices.
El-Sayed says he supports targeted tariffs. Rogers initially supported tariffs but last week said that some of the tariffs were hurting Michigan.
Rogers said that he’s running in Michigan because of a failing economy.
“First of all, I’m running because in the last quarter century, we’ve lost 200,000 manufacturing jobs in Michigan," Rogers said. "The last eight years, we have the highest utility rates in the Midwest, highest auto insurance rates in the Midwest, highest auto insurance rates in the country. Now, you have to be 40 years old, or the average homeowner is 40 years old. Our education is now 45th in the country.”
Michigan Republican Party Senior Communications Advisor Greg Manz said that the debate showed El-Sayed's true nature.
"Tonight in Grand Rapids, Abdul El-Sayed presented the same clumsy, contradictory conman act that defines his entire campaign," Manz told Townhall in an email. "This debate showcased Conman Abdul's anti-American, extremist policies which Mike Rogers, a former FBI agent, decisively exposed. “Conman Abdul cares more about Palestine than Michigan, which should concern every Michigander, given that the same radical Islamists who fund him also fund the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Jordan Domingue, a top staffer who worked two of Abdul El-Sayed’s campaigns has quit the Democrat’s U.S. Senate race and is now talking. What he describes is a candidate who has faked his way through public life, right down to the “physician” title. In a post on X, Jordan Domingue outlines his decision to defect from Abdul’s campaign after working first on his failed gubernatorial campaign and again on his current Senate campaign.

I protected Abdul for two years, I worked as his personal assistant/executive protection lead on his campaigns. I departed two jobs early from working abroad, moved to Michigan twice, and took paycuts averaging 50,000k.
I took his lovely wife to the hospital for visits when she was pregnant. His youngest daughter called me Mr. Jorjan. I painted him an original piece of artwork for his birthday.
I was happy to do and experience all of this. For his gubernatorial run he never mentioned foreign policy. During his senate run, his foreign policy was driven by a desire to invoke what seemed like misplaced revenge.
When I finally realized he didn’t actually care about civilians and peace, everything I had previously ignored or excused made it obvious to who he was and that I was on the wrong side.

[PJMedia] The Federalist has unearthed documentation about Sarah Jukaku, sister to El-Sayed’s wife. Apparently the Obama administration put Jukaku on the terrorist watchlist, which is particularly ironic since Barack Obama is set to campaign with El-Sayed this month.
