Turkey accuses Israel of military escalation in southern Syria
|
[North Press] Türkiye’s Defense Ministry accused on Thursday Israel of pursuing what it described as an “aggressive approach” in the region, citing home raids and arbitrary arrests in residential areas of southern Syria, as well as border violations, airstrikes and artillery fire.
In a statement, the ministry called on the international community to take “concrete and decisive steps” against Israeli military policies and actions that it said were hindering efforts to establish peace and stability in the region.
The ministry also said that the resumption of trench digging and road expansion under what it called the “Sufa-53 Project” amounted to a “blatant violation” of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
| The Assad government that signed that no longer exists. The HTS conquerers need to negotiate their own agreement with Israel. |
It described the activities as evidence that Israel’s military was continuing its expansionist policies.
