1 Imagine if we had some kind of Federal Institution focused on reducing demand for addictive substances and/or testing effectiveness of various treatments for addiction.

Imagine if we placed it in well-funded digs in, say, Montgomery County, MD.

Imagine if we called it the National Institute of Drug Abuse.

And, wait for it (h/t KBJ), NIDA had actually accomplished something useful in the past 50+ years.

Imagine.

Maybe then there wouldn't be nearly as much demand for addictive substances.

Can you imagine?

Sadly, for decades now!! ,our NIDA could not have accomplished less

if the daily goal of the people who work there was to accomplish less. Year after year. Decade after decade.

IF our National Institute Of Drug Abuse had accomplished even a fraction of what it was supposed to do over the past 50+ years...

THEN the narcos would not be Dangerous to (almost) anybody -- because (almost) nobody would want what they're pushing.

Like a bookstore when a mall gets looted.
